Getting Started with TILE

TILE allows you to customize the presention of content to suit your own needs. You can try this out by viewing one of our modules, and changing some preferences to see the effects.

Creating an Account

You don't have to create an account to use TILE, but if you do, any changes you make to your Preferences will be saved on the server, and will be restored the next time you log in.

To create your own TILE account, visit the Login page and choose the "Create a new account" link. A password will be emailed to you. When you receive it, you can log in to your TILE account.

Setting Your Preferences

You can modify your preferences by visiting the Preferences link at the bottom of every page.

The first Preferences page allows you to select general categories of preferences. Based on your selections, the Preferences Wizard will guide you through the rest of the process.

Viewing Content

You can access a sample of the content in TILE by clicking the following link:

Globalization and International Migration

This sample module contains text, images and video. It includes captioned versions of the videos, and alternate text descriptions of the images. Try setting your preferences to display caption alternatives for the audio content, or text alternatives to the visual content, and see what changes are made to the presentation of the content.

Try changing the font size and colours to make the text on the screen easier to see, and observe what changes are made to the presentation.
